"It's not that chocolates are a substitute for love. Love is a substitute for chocolate. Chocolate is, let's face it, far more reliable than a man." - Miranda Ingram

Homemade Chocolate Truffles

Coco Quill

I experience a certain feeling while reading angsty romance—that moment when the heroine has to face her own vulnerability, the hero’s heart is tormented and exposed, when love seems slightly out of reach, and everyone feels wrought with emotion. I enjoy the turbulence of love’s highs and lows, with the certainty of a happy ending.

It's a heady feeling that washes over me—ambrosia.

Although I don't get that exact same feeling when I eat chocolate, it's still of the same ilk. When I wake up, I think about chocolate and go to bed, dreaming of this sweet, decadent treat.

Being an enneagram seven (you can look that up - we are pleasure seekers), I decided to combine these two loves. Mathematicians would term this as ‘compounding interest,’ and I have convinced myself that it must be a sound idea because mathematicians are… well… smart.

Hello. I'm Coco Quill. I write romance novels and eat chocolate. In this blog, I will suggest different types of chocolate paired with my books, which I've written with love.

Ladies In Red

The Book of Innocence

The Haute Ton would like to think that there are worlds between them and the mere riff-raff of London—specifically, the women who service their men for money. But the reality is this relationship is a very blurred line.

So, when Eliza Beaumont, a curious young innocent of the Ton, makes her debut, her interest in the relations between men and women leads her to a rather unconventional sex education from the most notable whores of England - The Reds.

Called the Reds for their notorious crimson costumes, these women have found themselves in some unique positions in life but have never been paid to educate young debutantes in intimacy.

This unlikely cast of characters helps Eliza pursue a sexual education unlike any other so that Eliza might create an equal playing field between herself and the Duke of Craven.

As Dark, as he is handsome, the Duke of Craven hasn’t been innocent in life or the bedroom since his teens. Emotionally strung out and cold, The Duke has sworn off love and intimacy as he methodically searches for a wife.

The result? Misdeeds and miscommunications that lead to an enticing ride of emotions that can only be compared to… love itself.

Chocolate Pairing with Book of Innocence:

When I wrote this book, I must have ordered an obscene amount of Beyond Good, Madagascar 92% Chocolate. I have no affiliation with them; I just love their chocolate.

I recommend pairing this book with Beyond Good, a single-origin dark Chocolate. It is full-bodied, with deep cocoa bean-tasting notes and a fruit/citrus finish.

Why Pair This With the Book of Innocence? Colton is a full-bodied, deeply intense gentleman of the Ton. Paired with Eliza, who is bubbly, light, and full of life, they are the perfect pairing.
